A HUD for smart glasses

A heads-up interface for smart glasses. It puts system status straight into your field of view. Built in one afternoon at the ananda lab. Honestly: so far, a toy.

What it does

The HUD projects system status straight into the field of view of the glasses. No screen, no reaching for a phone: your eyes stay free, the status is there anyway. That is all it does. And that is deliberate.

How it came to be

In one afternoon at the ananda lab. A pair of glasses, a handful of system states, one attempt. By the evening the prototype was running. Since then it has been sitting in the lab, waiting for its use case.

What it is good for

Honest answer: we do not know yet. The question is open, and it is allowed to stand here as such. There are two candidates for putting it to work: the walkthrough of an operation, with system status riding along without anyone looking at a device. And on-site visits across the location network. Nothing is decided.

What we learned

The most important lesson: in the field of view, less is more. Only a few states can be grasped at a glance, ok or warning. Anything beyond that gets in the way more than it helps.
